Since the formation of the Association in 1989, its members have championed the authentic flavor of this dainty delicacy from their region. The traditional production method and the official recipe for Nuremberg Bratwursts have had the status of an EU Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) since July 15, 2003.
Quality needs a guardian
The Nuremberg Bratwurst Protection Association has two core responsibilities. On the one hand, the Association verifies the geographical origin in Nuremberg as well as compliance with the quality, recipe, and all typical properties. The Association also maintains the brand and works to promote brand awareness in various markets.
