Goldenes Posthorn
Dating from 1498, the Goldenes Posthorn is Germany’s oldest wine tavern. For centuries, the tavern has been celebrated in song and welcomed kings, artists, and scholars – Albrecht Dürer and Hans Sachs were regulars – from all over the world.
In 1945, the Goldenes Posthorn was reduced to rubble in a devastating air raid on the city. Since 1960, however, the inn now stands again in its original spot next to St. Sebald, thanks to painstaking restoration work carried out by the Behringer family. The famous Bratwursthäusle on one side and just around the corner the Goldenes Posthorn, which has entertained the worthies of Nuremberg since time immemorial as Germany’s oldest wine tavern.
Anyone wanting the truly authentic experience here obviously orders original Nuremberg Rostbratwursts and a decent Franconian wine. Or picks one of the other Franconian specialties from the extensive menu.
